Tax season might not be your favourite calendar highlight, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. In fact, with a little prep now, you can save your future self time, money, and headaches.
At Collective Accountants, we believe financial clarity is the ultimate form of confidence. And it all starts with preparation.
What Should You Be Collecting?
Here’s what to start getting in order:
- All invoices issued & received
- Bank statements for the financial year
- Loan statements and interest certificates
- PAYE, UIF, and SDL records
- VAT201 submissions (if registered)
- Employee IRP5s / IT3(a)s
- Annual financial statements if you’re a sole proprietor
- Any supporting documents for deductions
Know Your Deadlines
The 2025 tax season opens on 7 July for auto-assessments, and 21 July for individual and provisional taxpayers. The earlier you start, the better your position if anything is missing or incorrect.
Don’t Leave Money on the Table
Too many women leave out deductible expenses they’re eligible for — like home office claims, travel allowances, or medical credits. Knowing what you can (and can’t) claim is key to an accurate, efficient return.
